General Rate Increases/Restoration (GRI/GRR)
In order to continue offering our broad portfolio and high level of reliability during these challenging times, it will be necessary for us to implement a number of rate increases/restorations.

Far East to East Coast of South America – General Rate Increase (GRI)
Effective date: 15 March 2010
Scope: Far East to East Coast of South America
General rate increase: USD 250/500 per 20'/40'
West Central Asia to Europe – General Rate Increase (GRI)
Effective date: 1 March 2010
Scope: Middle East and Indian Subcontinent to North Europe and Mediterranean
Amount: USD 200/400 per 20'/40' dry and reefer United States, Guam and Canada to/from Mediterranean - General rate increase (GRI)
Effective date: 1 April 2010
Scope: United States, Canada, Guam to/from Mediterranean
General rate increase: USD 400/500 per 20'/40' dry and USD 500/500 per 40' high dry/40' high reefer West Coast of South America to Africa, Europe, Far East and Middle East – General Rate Increase (GRI)
Effective Date: 10 March 2010
Scope: West Coast of South America to Africa, Europe, Far East, Middle East, Red Sea and Indian Subcontinent
General Rate Increase: USD 400 per container (dry cargo only)
Italy – Implementation of Drop-Off Fee (PIO)
Effective 15 March 2010, we will start appling a drop-off fee to containers delivered empty to our internal depots in Italian ports, including Rivalta Scrivia, Milano, Madova, Modena and Bologna.
The fee will also apply to containers discharged in any Italian Port.
Please note that customers need to be authorised by the Italian import customer service department to deliver empty containers to the internal depots listed above.
Effective date: 15 March 2010 Amount: EUR 50/70 per 20'/40'
Italy Cluster – Emergency Risk Surcharge (ERS)
Given the increased piracy activity in the area, Maersk Line has been forced to further increase safety measures taken by vessels sailing in this region to protect the crews, ships and your cargo.
This can entail longer sailing routes, increased speed and special requirements for deployed tonnage. Please understand that, for security and crew-safety reasons, we cannot provide specific details.
Effective: 1 March, 2010
Scope: Gulf of Aden and East Africa and Middle East to/from Italy Cluster (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Malta, Bosnia Herzegovina)
Old Tariff: USD 25 per TEU
New Tariff: USD 45 per TEU
